Show off your kids, cars, pets, gardens or brag about your recent vacation with a photo wall calendar or desk calendar to be enjoyed with each turn of the month. This is a charming gift that is sure to generate smiles season after season.
Personalized Calendars
The end of the school year is creeping up on you. It’s important for your son to be able to say “Thank you” to his teacher in a unique and appropriate way but you are plum out of ideas. Arghhhh. Then it occurs to you that you’ve got all those 4th grade pictures of each child’s artwork and singles of every student. Somewhere in the back of your mind, you remember hearing about personalized calendars. What could be better for a teacher than being able to see on her calendar everyday the artwork she helped to motivate and pictures of her favorite group of kids? Colorful, personal, all too functional—a gift that does it all.
Start with a design that speaks to your son’s personality then let him choose the color scheme that shouts out to him. Get started downloading photos, organize them, apply some graphics and finish it off with personal touches while you’re having fun working together
Then watch Mrs. Jones face be full of delight when she receives a treasure that lasts a lifetime…or at least through the coming year.
Looking For Really Nice Calendars?
When is the last time you saw a really nice calendar? Growing up, we always had one hanging in the kitchen somewhere, usually on the refrigerator.
more
The last really good calendar that I was given came from my sister-in-law. It has a picture of the whole family on the cover, with pictures of the kids and some local scenery on each month. One of the nice things about it is the small picture of each one of our family members on the month and day of that particular one’s birthday. I’ve always had a hard time remembering all of them, until she gave me that calendar last Christmas. It’s a nice conversation piece too. With it hanging on our refrigerator, just about everyone who visits us sees it.
Calendars can have lots of different themes………………………………..
Family
Favorite pictures of scenery where you live
Holidays
Vacations
Special Occasions
Sports
Fishing
Your favorite restaurants
Ocean and beach views
Islands you’ve visited
Super bowl parties
They make great gifts when you personalize them with pictures you’ve taken, or maybe pictures that have meaning to you because of places you’ve visited. They aren’t very expensive to produce either, especially with all the tools available online these days. You can find pictures of just about any noteworthy place in the world and design your own calendars, if you’re not into photography, or feel that your photo skills aren’t quite up to par.
Think about how creative you could get, and design your own calendar for Christmas gifts next year. If you make it interesting (or helpful and interesting, like my sister-in-laws), they will be quite a hit with those you give them to. It sure beats giving them another shirt they won’t ever wear, or piece of jewelry they don’t like. Calendars can also contain some very helpful and interesting information. Over the years I’ve had calendars that covered a number of topics, other than just a lot of pictures that meant nothing to me.
People seem to enjoy having quick access to a calendar from time to time, especially if it contains pictures of grandkids, or something interesting or helpful (or both), such as:
Interesting facts (e.g. 6,912 spoken languages in the world, 450 have Bibles, etc.)
Holidays and important dates to remember
Birthdays of family members
Favorite recipes
Poems you’ve written
Favorite daily devotional messages
Favorite quotes from world renown people
Pictures of favorite vacation spots or cruises
Pictures of your favorite presidents and a quote of theirs
Be creative, and ask your spouse to help you come up with some good ideas. Make it a family project. Together, you will come up with some great calendars that will dazzle your friends and family.
Don’t make it too large. A calendar that’s about 6-12 inches wide can accommodate most anything you would want to include, and will also leave enough room in each day’s little square to write a brief note about an event or occasion you want to remember.
Some calendars are worth repeating. For example, you may come up with one that’s a hit with your whole family because it contains something they want to keep within reach, like very heartwarming family photos with all the birthdays (you can add new ones every year for new children or grandchildren), and/or some interesting facts. Then all you have to do is just have new ones made with the new year’s dates and updated birthdays. It may just solve some of your Christmas shopping problems, and give your family something they look forward to receiving every year. You can tweak it a little every year by adding a surprise page or two, something you feel will be of interest.
Google “calendars” and you’ll get some great ideas. . Calendars are produced with just about any theme you can imagine, and many that you may not have imagined…………..
American Outhouses
Yoga Puppies
Beer Pong (whatever that means)
Ghost Towns
Magnificent Beard Specimens
Abandoned Railway Stations
Jokes That You Cannot Tell Your Mother
In thinking about calendars that may be of interest to me, I can quickly tell you at least seven that would not be of interest (at all). While “Magnificent Beard Specimens” does sort of peak my curiosity, I would not want to peruse it more than once, quickly, and then throw it away.
I would have to say that the best calendar I’ve ever had was one that contained pictures of the 1998 University of Tennessee football team, the team that won the national championship. It was a gift from a close friend who was well connected. Many of the starting players on that team had signed the calendar under their picture, one of which was the quarterback, Tee Martin. I wish I could find it. I would see if I could somehow have it made into a current year.
If you’ve never had any calendars that you really liked, now is the time to create your own.
