Wedding Occasions And Wedding Essentials

This is one of life’s most special days. It’s special for the attendees, the bridesmaids, the ushers, the best man, the parents, and the groom. But it’s by far most special for the bride.

She wants to look her best, feel her best, be on her very best behavior, and experience this day like no other. Wedding occasions are that important.

This is a day you’ve dreamed of and envisioned for maybe many years, and you long for it to be every bit as fulfilling as you have dreamed and envisioned. You’re so full of love and excitement, and nervous anticipation. You want it to be perfect, not only for you, but for all who attend, and you’ll do all you can to make it that way.

You felt the day was coming, but you weren’t really sure when, and you had no idea who your soulmate would be. Now the day is drawing near. There is no doubt in your mind.
While the future holds many unanswered questions, some are now resolved for you.

When he pulled out the ring that day and fell to his knees, you said yes before he had time to open his mouth. And your response made his day too!

It was time. You had both found true love, something that evades some people for their entire lives. The only wedding occasions that some people get to experience are those that they attend. And while that’s ok for some, others have to accept it as just a part of life, something that just wasn’t meant to be.

Special occasions require special planning. Even though you’re open to what others think and suggest, it’s going to be your wishes and desires that count this time, and everyone agrees. In planning for that special day, the two most important elements to work from are timelines and budgets, which basically means the wedding date and money available for it.

With the wedding date and budget in hand, you make your list of “to do’s” and get started:

wedding location
preacher (or other officiate)
reception location
invitations
bridesmaids and dresses
groomsmen
gifts for both attendants
caterer and menu
flowers
musicians
gift registrations
cake
rings
flower girl
ring bearer
honeymoon (and first night)
wedding dress
bridesmaids dresses

It’s a good idea to pick up a good wedding planner book, and it’s also a good idea to have a goal for completing your plans. Ideally, if you can have all the plans made a few months before the wedding, it allows for the bride and groom to relax some, and it also allows for time to make changes if some of the plans don’t work out.

Someone recently asked me how many weddings I’ve attended. Depending on how you look at it, I’ve attended one or ten. I attended my nieces wedding, and it was a beautiful outdoor ceremony in a garden like setting. However, I’ve been a participant in nine weddings. I’ve been married three times (twice to the same woman who died after 29 years of marriage), and once to my beautiful wife of four years now. Besides that I’ve been a best man in two weddings, and an usher in four.

It almost looks like I’ve made a point of not attending unless I’m going to be in it, which is not the case at all. It’s just worked out like that. My wife recently informed me that we are going to attend one later this year. So it happens, just not often.

While attending weddings is not something I give a lot of thought to, I must admit that all of the wedding occasions where I’ve been present were quite enjoyable. In fact, they were some of the most enjoyable and memorable occasions in my life. I have many wonderful memories of all ten of the weddings in my life so far. The ceremonies, the music, the receptions, the food, the champagne, the parties held afterwards, all made for uplifting and lasting memories, some of which are still topics of discussion when we get together with some long time friends.

Yes, weddings are a very special day, and they are truly special for everyone present!
